WebTread reviews Avatar and predicts the film will surpass the $2 Billion mark at the Box Office... This is definitely going to be "The Matrix" all over again! A complete shift in how movies will be made over the next decade.

James Cameron is no stranger to making big waves. At the moment of this review, his film Titanic is the only film on planet Earth to earn over 1.8 Billion dollars, more than 700 Million dollars ahead of any other film in the history of mankind. It has also sat at this number one spot for the past 13 years as the highest grossing film of all time. That is until now!

At just over 3 weeks into it's run for the title, "Avatar" has not only surpassed "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" as the new contender for the title but looks to have the legs to give Titanic a run for it's money. If we take a closer look we see that Titanic spent 41 weeks in theaters to reach and hold the number one spot, enjoying a staggering 1.84 Billion dollars in ticket sales and Avatar has managed to reach 1.341 Billion dollars in just 3 weeks. I'd say that James Cameron may very well be the person for the job.

After seeing Avatar in 3D a few days after Christmas I can promise you this baby has legs and my prediction is that not only will this film surpass Titanic as the number one grossing film in the box office of all time but that it will be the first film in history to break $2 Billion dollars at the box office. One advantage to Avatar's credit is that it comes in two flavors; regular and 3D.

As a film review goes, what can I say that you haven't already heard? Well no spoilers as I can only say that if you have not seen this film, you should. I recommend seeing the film in 3D if you are in an area that has a theater that supports it. Not to take anything away from the film as it stands on it's own but after viewing it in 3D you do get a sense that this format is going to move from being a fringe affair into the way of the future. If Avatar isn't enough indication of the 3D trend on the horizon, I can easily point to the 2010 CES, where several electronic manufacturers showed off 3D televisions to be unleashed on the public in the near future.

As far as the 3D glasses go, out with the old and in with the new. We are finally beyond the flimsy blue and red paper glasses past generations are use to and have moved on to something more a kin to cheap sunglasses. On a minor negative note here and I may be in the minority but I found that some parts in the beginning of the film still gave me a bit of a headache during the human world scenes. Something that has plagued watching 3D movies since it's inception. On a positive note not once did I have this problem watching any of the fully animated world scenes which I find interesting. I will say that the effect of seeing depth perception at this remarkable rate was worth the price and easy enough to forgive any minor headaches at the beginning... Maybe the technology still has a ways to go before people will be willing to wear cheap sunglasses in order to watch content at home though. Only time will tell.

Mark my words, Avatar will surpass Titanic as the number one grossing film of all time and likely cross the $2 billion dollar mark world wide at the box office.
