You’ll Do Well

I was there and I saw

As they pinned his hands and feet

I was there and I saw

And I watched our Mary weep

And what do you feel when the pain

Is more than what you can see

And all that you hide at the center of soul

Is more than the sky is deep

And love is just a thought

More than it is a thing

And God has gone to sleep

When birds come out to sing

And when is death your friend

Is it just before the dawn?

When nightmares soon will end

Or when your friends are gone

It doesn’t matter all that much

And only time will tell

I know you’ve come this far my friend

I’m sure that you’ll do well
